Isn’t it crazy that you need camping gear to eat a healthy breakfast in a four star hotel? Well unfortunately that is now the case. With a breakfast menu at most hotels that usually involves sugary cereals, GMO-based eggs, bacon, milk, yogurt, and cheese derived from factory farms (think hormones, GMO-feed, and sick animals), and hash browns fried in butter, margarine or bad oils, there aren’t many nouri options. Oatmeal is always a safe bet, but it usually winds up being the most expensive oatmeal you’ve ever had… and usually pretty bland.
To avoid the hotel breakfast I usually pack a nouri breakfast kit in my rollie, which is made up of travel friendly camping equipment, and pick up sugar-free granola and fresh organic fruits at the nearest WholeFoods or equivalent. Here’s the nouri breakfast kit: collapsible bowl, bamboo utensils or travel utensils from REI, and a stainless steel travel cup. This kit packs easily and is light. I started traveling with the stainless steel cup ever since I heard that hotels don’t clean the glasses in the room. This kit lets me:
- Create a nouri breakfast,
- Control what I eat when I’m on the go, and
- Relax and have some fun with eating healthy… urban camping!
Here’s why the traditional hotel breakfast is not as healthy as you may think.
