Do you dread traveling to London because of the food? Fish and chips, Yorkshire pudding, Toad-in-the Hole, Shepherd’s Pie and Cottage Pie not your idea of mouth-watering scrumptiousness or comfort food? The English are known for their unique culinary approach that traditionally includes meat pies, fish and chips and other pub staples. Finding nouri, let alone tasty nouri among traditional English fare can be a challenge.
First thing one of our nouri ambassador’s did is find a boutique hotel in the Earl’s Court neighborhood of London. Then he searched for Indian and Thai restaurants. With Indian and Thai spices he knows he’s guaranteed a flavorful meal. He also knows that the slow-cooked Indian meals are healthier and tastier. Indian cuisine uses a lot of turmeric, onions, garlic, ginger, peppers and chilies which are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and digestive aids. Many people stay away from Indian restaurants because of the ghee used in the cooking. But don’t be shy, just ask them to go lite on the creamy dishes or stick with the drier dishes.
Thai cooking also uses many of the same spices plus three different types of basil, one of which is Holy Basil-the pillar of holistic medicine. Indian and Thai for nouri options = delicious + immune booster. Keeping the immune system charged is so critical when traveling.
The boutique hotel was equipped with fridge, which enabled him to stock up on granola, fruits, goat milk, and vegan cookies. As an American, what our nouri ambassador loved about his trip to the “bio” grocery store around the corner from his hotel, is the labeling! The labels on the produce indicate what county the fruit or vegetable is grown in and who the farmer is. Now that’s farm to table nouri! Check out the label on the cherry package.
While a pint at the pub is not a bad way to spend some time, it is also clear that the business traveler has many nouri options in London.
