Some employees eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the office, especially when “food perks” are designed to keep the employee productive and working longer hours. Yet, according to the RAND Employer Survey and DOL Workplace Wellness Study only 21% of employers focus on healthy foods as a health promotion corporate action.
The corporate wellness services industry is a $2 billion market; yet corporate food spend on business travel alone is approximately $40 billion. Corporate dining and catering is a big part of the $683 billion restaurant industry. 1,500 business travel managers for Fortune 500 companies represent approximately $12 billion in corporate dining spend. In addition, every $1 spent on unhealthy food results in $5 spent on healthcare.
